The GR11 footpath is an official path that runs the entire length of the Pyrenees on the Spanish side from the Atlantic coast to the Mediterranean Coast. According to the guidebook, its a 47 day walk so its not something to be tackled lightly. There is an equivalent path on the French side (the GR10) but that seems to be more technically demanding of walkers.
Why my friend Jason came up with the idea to walk the GR11 is up for debate, but at least he had the sense to suggest walking it in chunks, rather than in one go. Given my new post-work ‘walking legs’ I thought I’d join in, at least for the first few days. Jason is writing his own account of the journey on Substack, and his far-better-read-than-mine can be found here.
