I was always interested in drumming, but throughout my working life, kids, work, life got in the way of doing anything about it. So imagine my surprise that on Christmas morning, my first post retirement, Father Christmas had brought me a new Pearl ‘starter’ drum kit with snare drum, 3 toms, bass, hi-hat, ride and crash cymbals.

Having spent 3 days trying to put them altogether (badly) I sat down at the kit and realised I had no clue what to do. In came The Music Base drum school in Aylesbury and I’ve not looked back since. In fact, TMB held a ‘showcase’ for willing pupils to show off their talents to a paid audience so I took the plunge with a rendition of Jump by Van Halen, a video of which you can find below. Scared? Terrified. Liked it? Loved it.

So here I’ll post bits and pieces as I do them as I’m actually quite keen to be able to refer back to events every now and then.
